Wild Appalachian Edibles & Medicinals shirt
Appalachia’s biodiversity is beyond compare. Mountain folks have been living off the land and foraging the earth for good health and good food for generations, and knowing the difference between what kills and what cures – oh, what a skill it is to have. Hand drawn from top to bottom: blue cohosh, sassafras, yellowroot, poke, ginseng, morel, coltsfoot, and ramps. Because names tend to vary from place to place (dry land fish, hickory chicken, molly moochers, anyone?), we stuck with the good old scientific labels beneath each, typed on a 1950s Royal Quiet Deluxe typewriter. Though there’s no way to capture in one shirt every beneficial plant these mountains have to offer, this one’s a good start!
